Summary of Position:
This position requires mechanical knowledge of basic troubleshooting, repairing, component rebuilding and maintaining equipment in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Actively works within the business to improve fleet performance. Actively supports the mine improvement programs and leads others in identifying and solving problems in the business.
Demonstrate the understanding and promote safety requirements associated with this position.
Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, (with laptop computer), diagnose, understand service manuals, read schematics, and pursue available resources.
Demonstrate a high-quality mechanical ability and understand mechanical systems of light duty equipment and/or large earth moving equipment.
Complete job related paperwork; have the ability or willing to learn how to formulate a parts list, and effectively use Computer Maintenance Management System.
Demonstrate general welding and precision measurement skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
Highly flexible with the ability to adjust to the demands of the job, produce consistently high quality work, and can be depended on to complete assigned tasks in determined time frames.
Demonstrate the ability to work with little or no supervision, including the ability to assume additional responsibility with minimal supervision.
Consistently displays positive behavior that supports the organization’s goals and objectives.
Maintains work area cleanliness and clean work practices.
Knowledge of warehouse, computer system (Ellipse), 12V/24V electrical systems and demonstrate practical knowledge of truck/shovel operations.
Must be self-starter, safety conscious and able to function in other support requirements as needed.
Knowledge of hydraulics.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in maintenance service or mining industry preferred. Education may substitute for some of the experience.
Experience working as a mechanic at a Ford dealership preferred for light duty work.
High school diploma/GED preferred.
Formal training courses, certifications or related degree program preferred.
Engine mechanic work requires 2-3 years’ experience performing preventative maintenance and repair to high horse power Cummins and MTU Engines. Specific models include, but are not limited to, Cummins K2000, QSK50, KTA50, QSK60 and MTU 4000 series engines Tier 1 and Tier 2.

Successful candidate should have:
Documented model specific training, preferably by the OEM.
Full functional expertise with Cummins INSITE and MTU ADDEC and MTU DDEC engine diagnosis software
Engine parts manual expertise
Engine removal and installation experience
Main alternator to engine installation experience
Experience with Cummins C and D interval maintenance
Experience with MTU W3 and W4 interval maintenance
Experience with Cummins Quickserve software
Komatsu 830E Haul Truck maintenance experience
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to continuously kneel or crouch; frequently climb ladders and crawl; and occasionally climb stairs and squat. The employee must frequently lift, carry and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 61 pounds, right carry up to 22 pounds; and rarely lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds rarely while lying on the back. The employee is required to occasionally push up to 80 pounds of force and pull up to 55 pounds of force horizontally; rarely push up to 100 pounds of force horizontally and up to 55 pounds of force vertically; rarely rotate with 20 pounds of force or swing up to 12 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasionally with a static hand grip of 33 pounds of force; and rarely at an elevated levels. Occasionally the employee is required to sit with frequent forward bending and rarely rotation. Frequently the employee is required to walk; shovel; and to stand with forward bending. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment: Works in site environments on rotating shifts with variable hours. Working outdoors in all weather conditions; working in plant environment; working in shop environment; and working in the cab of equipment or vehicle.
