Job Title: Electrician
Location: Navajo Mine
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Maintenance
Summary:
The Electrician will diagnose malfunctions, and repair, remove, replace, adjust and test electrical systems on all types of large surface mining and haulage equipment. The Electrician will perform monthly electrical inspections and maintain, test, and inspect permanent electrical systems and support equipment throughout the mining operations and facilities.
Essential Duties:
- Perform safety inspections of work areas and equipment prior to commencing work, report and correct (as appropriate) hazardous conditions, and report all near misses and accidents to the supervisor.
- Lift, carry, move and utilize a variety of tools, equipment, parts and supplies, including, but not limited to, trailing cable and wire spools.
- Use hoists and other assisting devices whenever possible.
- Operate various types of vehicles including, but not limited to, pickups, forklifts, overhead cranes, cable reel and aerial lift trucks.
- Understand, read and apply information from documents, including, but not limited to, electrical schematics, work orders, parts and service manuals, and policies and procedures.
- Act responsibly in all duties, follow all safety instructions and established policies and procedures.
- Job duties must be performed in accordance with MSHA laws and regulations, established company safety procedures and State and Federal environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Current MSHA Electrical Surface Certification (under Part 77.103).
- Possess a valid State Driver’s License and maintain an insurable driving record.
- Proven three years (3) of recent experience (within the past 5 years) working as an electrician in an Industrial environment.
- Proven three (3) years of recent experience (within the past 5 years) working with large walking draglines in a coal processing facility preferred. Advanced knowledge of PLC systems preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of National Electrical Code.
- Demonstrate experience understanding and applying mathematical and electrical formulas.
- Demonstrate experience troubleshooting and repairing high voltage DC motors and generators.
- Demonstrate experience in operating various types of equipment including but not limited to forklifts, overhead cranes, cable reel and aerial lift trucks.
- Possess a positive safety attitude, be willing and able to work shift work with varying schedules and hours, work in inclement weather conditions and work overtime on short notice as needed.
- Must be able to climb, work at heights and in confined spaces.

Failure to become a member within the required timeframe will result in termination of employment.
