Plant Mechanic

Must take a personal and active approach to health, safety and environment and understand and follow all state, federal and company health, safety and environmental requirements applicable to the work area and tasks assigned.

Summary of Position:

Candidate should have a good understanding of maintenance procedures surrounding bearings, gears, lubrication, structural maintenance, and hydraulics. The position requires specific skills in troubleshooting, repairing and rebuilding components, and maintaining the equipment in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner. This role also requires continuous improvement of work practices, and therefore will require continued training, and the ability to fully define and implement long-term solutions.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

· The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to.

· Ensuring equipment maintenance and repairs are performed to accepted industrial standards.

• Promote strong safety practices including lockout/tag-out and work area cleanliness.

· Help develop and implement strategies for improving equipment and process reliability.

· Identify opportunities for improvement in reliability and component life.

· Participate in root cause analysis of major failures and the development of corrective actions.

· Consistently display positive behavior that supports the organization’s goals and objectives.

· Communicate with others and provide information for planning, prioritizing and completion of tasks.

Qualifications:

· Strong mechanical knowledge.

· Good general maintenance background. Candidate should have a good understanding of Plant equipment and procedures surrounding bearings, gears, lubrication, structural maintenance, hydraulics, and conveyor systems.

· Ability to work rotating Schedules in widely varying weather conditions.

· Knowledge to proper machinery lubrication practices.

· All plant personnel are required to attain Mine Foreman’s certificate.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.

· Must be a self-starter, safety conscious and able to function in other support requirements as needed.

· Highly flexible with the ability to adjust to the demands of the job, produce high quality work, and can be depended on to complete assigned tasks.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Employee is required to have the ability to: frequently sit, stand, rotate while sitting or standing, forward bend while sitting or standing, climb stairs, climb stepladders, perform elevated work, grip up to 39 pounds; occasionally lift up to 73 pounds to waist, front carry up to 50 pounds, push with up to 54 pounds of force, forward bend sit, crawl, kneel, and crouch; rarely lift up to 35 pounds to waist, carry up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive squats, shovel various material. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Works in site environments on rotating shifts with variable hours. Working outdoors in all weather conditions; working on uneven surfaces; working in plant environment; working in shop environment; and working in the cab of equipment or vehicle.
